Build a new future

The Crew in Costa Rica

The construction of Ceiba is taking place in the mangroves of Punta Morales on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Working at this one-of-a-kind shipyard is a way of life and community is a core part of the Sailcargo experience.

If you think this is for you, please send us your complete application, inclusive of pictures of your work if applicable, to hr@sailcargo.org.

CEIBA Roles

Shipwrights & Boatbuilders

It takes many hands to construct a ship like CEIBA. We offer paid positions to experienced shipwrights and boatbuilders from around the world.

Carpenters

Carpentry skills are obvously extremely useful in such a build. We welcome local and foreign applicants with multiple years of woodworking experience.

Metal Workers

Our on-site metal shop provides key support to the construction team by manufacturing thousands of bolts and nails, as well as specialist tools and jigs.

Office Staff

There are many different roles that make Sailcargo a success. From accountants to videographers, building such a movement would not be possible without them.

The Crew Around the World

Our future fleet will one day be sailing around the world and will require an experienced and motivated crew. We are building a database of sailors for when that day comes and welcome you to apply

If this is a mission you feel connected to, please send your complete application, inclusive of qualifications and references, to hr@sailcargo.org.

“Being a part of the work on Ceiba and the chance to carry on the skills of traditional trades has been some of the most rewarding work I’ve had the pleasure of doing.”
